PELVIC FLOOR PHYSIOTHERAPY

What is a Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy treatment?

As pelvic floor physiotherapists we are certified to assess and treat pelvic floor dysfunction. We have specialized training that enables us to assess the pelvic floor and surrounding structures internally and externally.

It is sometimes assumed that a pelvic floor physiotherapy treatment will include strengthening a person's pelvic floor muscles, but it is important to remember it isn’t ALWAYS about strengthening— sometimes it’s about relaxing tense muscles or addressing pain or imbalance within the pelvis. The pelvis itself has a lot more to it than just the pelvic floor muscles. Think about all of the other areas of the body that interact with the pelvis.
